Hi Gio - This looks very good. Great action and the slight blur of the ear adds to the feeling of movement as does the splash. If it were mine I would back off on the sharpening of the splash.
This is a very nice image , as the above comments describes , the sense of movement of the ear adds to this one , almost a chocolate elephant , LOL ! Agree withRachel on the Sharpening of water , cool image .TFS !
Overall this is an exciting and dynamic image. But, as a blur lover, I will disagree here.... I find the motion blur of the ear, the tusks (especially the right one), and the mud itself to be distracting. A higher ISO like 400 combined with a wider aperture like f/4 or even f/2.8 would have yielded a much sharper image. Alternatively, you could have gone much slower to something like 1/5 sec. for a possibly pleasing blur. For me, in-between blurs like this one do not work for me.
At Bosque once I had an atomic bomb-shaped flock of mixed blackbirds swirling around in front of me. Somehow I wound up at 1/160 sec. The birds were not sharp and the blur was not pleasing.
All can learn a ton about creating pleasing blurs in the guide that I did with Denise Ippolito, "A Guide to Pleasing Blurs." a
