I have so many images of this species this year that I thought of trying something different. I went out early in the morning (nothing new there) with the specific goal of creating some silhouettes. This one was my favorite of the session. I do not have a full reflection as the shoreline is immediately below the frame...
Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/2000s., f/7.1, ISO 800, handheld, exposed to the right so I had to deepen the blacks and tame the highlights in the water, punched up the saturation, fiddled with the WB to get it warmer (as I remembered in the viewfinder). A few specks in the water removed via spot removal and patch tools.
Hi Daniel -- What beautiful gold color ! Looks like a bird standing in a gold metal liquid . very nicely done , like the way you have composed this frame amidst the shoreline hurdle. TFS !
Hi Dan, love silhouettes against striking coloured BG's, and it certainly works here. Even before reading Randy's comment, just looking at the thumbnail, I felt the diagonal waves take the image to another level. Well seen and captured.
Hi Daniel - The thumbnail just jumps out. Beautiful silhouette, well executed. The rich tones and subtle lines of the bg really make the image. Well done.
