    Default Birds in the rain

I deliberately didn't make this a theme, as the chick's face is not visible.

Spent a couple of hours in my hide a week ago in (mostly) heavy rain. This image was taken a few minutes after mum sea eagle brought a juvenile
Dusky Moorhen to the nest. The chick was preening earlier when the rain stopped for a short while and was resting mostly with a full crop.
Since there was no real chance of more good things to record or photograph, I carefully exited the area.

I shot a little video too and had caught the mum bringing in the prey about halfway along. Take a look here if you like.

5D, 500/4L IS USM, manual mode
    ISO 3200, f/8, 1/320th, cropped to 16:9
tripod, full Wimberley and hide used
Left some remnant feather of the prey on mum's bill

I do have an image with a better HA on mum, but not when the chick's head is up.

It must be pretty miserable in that rain for the young sea eagle chick as our winter was long and harsh this year. The colours of the tree bark is especially vivid when wet and offsets well against the bird`s plumage. Well exposed in the available light conditions, overall a very nice photo.

Well done Amos, for getting this capture in the rain. Good work. The image looks very 'natural' as intended, with great detail overall. I like it a lot.

Love, love the video! Thanks for including the link.
You have yourself a killer blind and a killer clear view of the nest.
I can't wait to see your images from this nest over the next few weeks.
the eagle and the prey and the trees are excellent. And the nest is quite clean.
As you said in your self critique- would have been nice to see the chicks face.
You will get some killer images from this nest I am sure!

Hi Akos, great video mate, and loved the sounds of nature together with the falling rain. Well exposed on the Eagle, and I like how the Eagle is framed between the two branches.

It will be great to monitor and capture images as the chick grows up.

Lovely scene and the rain adds to the mood. Although the adult's HA is not 'ideal', I like how attentively he/she is looking at the chick. Nicely done Akos. You hide sounds like a neat place.
Is that a eucalyptus tree they're nesting in?
