This turned out differently than I had intended, but I sort of like it. I know the crop is tight, but don't know if it is worth re-doing.
Added canvas to bottom, cropped from top; levels, brightness/contrast, Viveza. Three textures: "5" & "Autumn Stone": Joel Olives"4" : Shadowhouse.

Anita, I like this too. I like the way that the background colors complement the pinks and reds of the flower. The combination of textures is very pleasing. The tight frame doesn't really bother me.

I like it too Anita! The tight crop doesn't bother me either. I'm not one of those people who are so hung up on the "rules" that them never break them.

Anita, you are the master of blending and using background textures and colors! I also like this simple and tight image of the flower. The flower is nearly symmetrical and that makes work for me as it stretches from side to side. It also reminds me of botanical images and I can see a series of them displayed together!

The colors and textures are very pleasing. For me, the symmetry of the image allows a tight lateral margin. Perhaps a texture without a border would make the tightness less apparent.

Agree with Nancy. You are a master of textures If you did have more canvas on the sides, it would't be much because the shape of the flower demands a close crop. Nice.

I liked this as soon as I saw the thumbnail. The textures, the shape of the flower, and the composition all appealed to me. Although I liked the colors, too, I looked at the color wheel that's always in front of me at the computer. Based on what it showed, I made the greens a bit bluer to get a split complementary color scheme. Here's how it came out.

I like a bit of breathing room and for my taste, it's VERY worth re-doing! Gorgeous!

Thank you Diane and Dennis for your comments.
Dennis: I never thought of changing the bg color to better match split complimentary color. Thanks for the suggestion.

    Anita,

Greetings. I really like how the brightness and color contrast pops off the screen. A real beauty. The tight crop works for me. I like the bright pop of the OP though the slightly subdued though articulated color in Dennis' repost is also attractive. Thanks for posting.

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

Hi, Anita, sorry I'm late commenting and it looks like it's all been said. I like Dennis' repost equally well. Tight crop is fine with me.
