Went to Nickerson Monday evening for a couple hours. Winds were blowing hard which made for some great flight ops of the juveniles flying and skimming. Hope that you enjoy this "in your face" image.

That is a superb flight shot Grace - really 'in your face' as you mention, great shooting angle. This is one of those occasions where the far wing intersecting the head works, for me there is a subtle difference in the light between head and wing.

My only slight niggle would be some of the brighter specular highlights 45 degrees down from the beak catch my eye but apart from that this is a real beauty

Wicked pose and intimate perspective, I also would get rid of a few of the speckle highlights...

Very nice Grace. I to like the tight crop. Lovely detail on the bird and a great BG.

Nice one Grace! Another vote for getting rid of a few of the more prominent speckles!

Excellent pose here, and the crashing wave adds a lot to the image. I really like the more in-focus part of the wave peeking in at the extreme lower right corner, a really cool detail!

The image is bursting with life! Vibrant light and great action. So solid from all the technical aspects of bird photography. Really sweet "tight" composition. I don't have any ideas for improving this fine photograph.

This is fantastic Grace! Love the killer details and the cool pose. The water frothing in the BG looks great and I love the tighter comp. Nice work

Thanks, BPN friends! I appreciate your suggestion about the highlights. Thought about removing them but then didn't. I'll get rid of just those three in the final version.

Great shot! I love the BG. It makes the image so much more dynamic than a skimmer with a nice, traditional OOF backround.
