This little fella was feeding peacefully when it got momentarily spooked by something that I did not see. This prompted it to take a few quick strides with wings open before settling back to feed again.

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1600s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, cropped for comp, usual eye work. a couple of specks in the water cloned out.

You are quick to catch that wings-up pose as it happens so fast. With the muted light, I would sharpen the head and neck just a bit more. (Or maybe add contrast, I never can tell which will work best till I try a few things).

Low angle shooting works pretty good here, Daniel. Nice motion captured.

Sweet pose! Low angle perspective, as always from you, looks really good. Body is angled towards you in a pleasing way...I like how there is sharpness and a little motion blur in the subject (in all the right areas of course)....if that foot had only just cleared the surface of the water...! Can't have it all I guess :)
