This image was made last Saturday during a Tamron sponsored workshop.

I call this Making Chicken Salad because when Dad and I first arrived at this avian restoration center we thought we were dealt a big hand of Chicken Poop... but you know you what you do with that? Make Chicken Salad ;)

Making something out of what may seem to be a bad situation is up to you and your grasp of creative control. This image was made in full shade with fill flash.

    Shooting Solution
    Camera: Nikon D300

SB-800 Flash, Rear curtain, +0.7 EV

Comments welcome and much appreciated :)

    Thanks for looking!

That looks pretty good for salad. :) Great exposure control and details. There is some CA around the catchlight.

I like your recipe for Chicken Salad. Great use of flash.....something I'm always hesitant to use on captives. Wonderful image....and certainly a favorite owl of mine.

Thanks, Lana. I think it's a pretty good recipe :D About the flash, we made sure to ask permission from the bird's care-takers before a single flash was fired ;) If they weren't completely comfortable with it, this image would look very different.

Nice work, I like it Blake. The BG works well with the subject.
