    He was photographed on the north beach of Dune, the little sand island next to Heligoland. While all other birds stayed away from the beach in this summer heat - the photo was made on a hot day last June at about 2 pm - this guy seemed to be on "duty", as he tirelessly continued to parade around for every nature photographer that came along.

    I got many poses from him, of which I like those best where he is not simply "parading", but really doing something he is supposed to do...

    This one is a vertical crop from a horizontal frame.

    We probably have have photographed the same bird! My image is above yours...............and also photographed on Dune. Nice pose, but would have like a lower angle and some more space on the reight side

    Thanks Hillebrand! The space on the right side is available (I tried to keep it 2:3 though).
    Regarding the lower angle: Yes, I agree. I just wasn't possible as I was alrady lying on the rather steep slope of the beach, and he didn't stay long enough in the same spot to approach more :-(

    Nice preening pose. The angle has been mentioned. The light looks a bit harsh and the bird looks a bit soft on my monitor.
