    Whistling kite photographed while hunting along the Murray river in South Australia. Canon EOS 7D Mark II, EF600mm f/4L IS II USM +1.4x III, 1/1000, ISO 200, f6.3, EC +2/3, handheld.
    PP- ACR, crop, resize, levels, sharpen with CS6. Comments and critique welcome.

    Hi Gerhard, lovely banking angle with a good head turn, and I do like show of the primaries. Well exposed on the underwings, and nice and sharp too. Comp wise, I feel moving the kite towards the URC would work better.

    Ditto exactly what Stu said!
    I wish he had a catchlight in the eye but understand how difficult it is to get the field conditions "just perfect"!

    Hi Gerhard,

    this is a difficult shot to pull with the bird flying overhead in harsh light, just not ideal for flight photography but you did well here. I agree with adding a catch light.

    For me the crop is unbalanced. It needs space in front of it, rather than behind it.
    Looks OK to me. Not often can we get raptors at eye level.
