Another image of this juvenile from Plum Island a couple of weeks ago, poised for the start of rapid sand thumping in search of tiny sand dwellers minutes before sunset. C&C welcome.

I like the end of the day feeling, the raised foot and the sandy foreground. I'd crop tighter a bit and do more NR on the BG. TFS.

Lovely. I like this one better than the first one, but that's just my humble opinion. The setting sun makes the bird glow against the dark beach. I love the raised foot, and the way the last rays of sun are catching the ripples of the sand. In fact, that is such an appealing part of the image that I would hesitate to crop any further in the width. Maybe a bit off the bottom to make it pano. A slight head turn, and maybe dodging the iris a bit, would put it over the top.

Thanks, Bill and thanks for the suggestions for the eye and a bit off the bottom. Here's a repost.

I like the crop. Maybe a little too much on the eye.

Cute fella photographed in very sweet light. If mine I'd crop almost half the bottom. Yes, the eye was over done in the repost: work really tight, as big as you can magnify the eye on your screen, and work on the iris only (not the pupil as it is already very black as it should) and dodge it maybe halfway between the OP and the RP.

Hi Geoff, exquisite late light, and love the raised foot. Great advice from above regarding the comp and eye.
