This is a man-made waterfall at the Los Angeles County Arboretum in Arcadia, California. I used Topaz Simplify and Adjust, making an underpainting layer and adding the fully detailed layer on top of it.

Great processing. I especially love the look of the water falling--it is gorgeous. I'm wishing for a little more room on the right, and a bit of darkening on the left, and toning down the red flower just a tad.

Certainly my idea of a tropical paradise! I want to play with your idea of the fully detailed image on top of the altered image. This is the reverse of what I usually do and I really like the effect in this image. I would probably remove those 2 small pink flowers in the extreme upper left corner. They seem to be just hanging there as orphans. The falls and falling water are stunning and well framed with the darker vegetation.

Hi Kerry (and everyone here in OOTB!) Love stopping by here to view your wonderful work! Very beautiful, Kerry! The waterfalls and your rendition of them is stunning! Love how the BG goes to black, but with nice views of the surrounding foliage. Agree with Nancy on the two little pink flowers in ULC. Perhaps a bit less "yellow" in the bright flower and also the leaves on the left side... but just a tad. This would be lovely on a wall.

Kerry, I really like the composition, and the softer effect of Topaz on the foliage and the rocks. The multiple "strands" of falling water are also lovely. I agree with Anita's suggestion to tone down the red flower...it is a nice touch but slightly distracting.

Gorgeous treatment and perfect light on a perfect waterfall!! Good ideas above.

Our younger daughter and her hubby live just west of Pasadena and we drive by the Arboretum on the way to a favorite restaurant -- I need to see it!! Thanks for a lovely reminder!

I like the composition and the contrast between the lighter and darker parts of the image. The C shape of the light water is especially effective.

I agree with Anita's comment about toning the red flower down some and Nancy's about eliminating the pink ones in the upper left. That red flower is a nice element, though. I wonder about adding a slight reddish vignette to the left and bottom edges to complement the flower.

Glad to have you back, Dennis!
I like the subtle change in your version. Interesting how such a small thing can make a bit difference.
