    Default Fall Warbler ID Request

I saw this solitary warbler near the woods this evening in Northwestern Niagara County, NY near the south shore of Lake Ontario. Is it safe to call it a Cape May Warbler ? That's as close as I can get, but have never seen one exhibiting the plumage color in the photos below. Might it be a young male?

    Regards,

    Jonathan

I believe it is a first year Black-throated Green Warbler.

Thank you, Bruce. That is a better match from my call after double checking The Warbler Guide. I added a posterior view to show additional detail. This bird was in view for less than a minute and I was lucky to get these few shots.

    Regards,

    Jonathan

Hi Jonathan, I'd agree with Bruce. Pic is an almost exact match to one in my Warbler guide, which calls it likely a first year female.
