Default Juvenile Semipalmated Plover Wing Stretch.

These guys do not announce their intention to stretch, so it almost always surprises when it does happen. It happened twice this particular morning with the first opportunity, a subject perfectly parallel to the sensor, ruined by clipped feathers at the top. Here I was able to fit them all in...

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/800s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, cropped for comp, a couple of darker oof distractions removed from the beach (patch and clone tools).

Typical wader stretch well caught Dan
I reckon waders often psh the neck forward just a fraction before the stretch.( Well some do anyway) We all miss more than we get though. Lapwings especially seem to do it just when you are looking for your sandwhiches. So I pretend- but it never works.!
Another nice wader job whatever. Nice mergeing BG too

So true about the unexpected wing stretch!
I really like your composition. Strong image and a bit different because of this slightly unusual composition.
Great POV and digging the clean FG and BG,
    Gail

A centered version would work too I think, but agree that this comp is cool!
Nicely done Daniel. Glad you caught this stretch. Some good detail in there.

Dan I really like these wader shots you are showing us, this outstretched wing and forward looking pose is smashing.

Hi Dan, your normal excellent low angle of capture, and you have captured the wings extended to the fullest. Good eye contact, well exposed, and overall tack sharp. Im glad you kept your comp as landscape, as I really like the pastel blues in the BG.

So Sweet ! This does happen in a split second, not at all easy to capture. I love the tones of blue in the background.

What perfect timing, Daniel. Great framing and beautiful BG. Nice low angle and sharp detail on this beauty.

Lovely capture Daniel, nice behavioural aspect and the soft, muted colour palette works so well here. Good techs and yet again, the low POV is the icing.
