    Default Dragonfly Closeup

A bit of true macro. I experimented with a bounce flash as I wanted to achieve a natural from above light. I made a large bounce card from white cardboard and mounted it on the back of the flash gun. The flash was mounted in the camera hot shoe and set at an angle of 45 degrees. The dragonfly was very obliging and allowed me to get very close for several minutes.

I love the detail on the compound eyes, wow. Neat 3-D effect too. Good colours, exposure, and excellent flash work (your DIY bounce card worked wonders). Only the crop could be improved IMO: maybe a tad looser for some room above and below for the back and leg. Excellent stuff though, I've been staring at those eyes for a while now!

What a face! You can easily make out each hexagonal component on the eyes! I agree with Daniel about the crop, would like to include a little bit more if it is available, but this one is amazing!

Excellent shot David, I would add a little canvas top and bottom say 5mm, otherwise spot on.
