These sometimes grow uninvited in my garden. I don't know what they are. Lovely photo of this one, with the great seed head. I might darken the light colored out of focus leaf in the bg.

I don't know what this is either. It came in a few years back with some fill, and I love it. I have saved the seeds, but I can't get them to grow. I have asked many people, but don't have an ID. The fascinating thing is that a flower will open in the morning and close that same afternoon and fall off. It is a one day flower...

Really nice Mitch and what a mysterious flower. I would love to know what it is too. I like your presentation, showing the bloom nicely and with strong composition. I might lighten the image a bit overall, or maybe just the flower. Well done.

I like the subdued lighting on the flower and the bud, and the strong contrast between the burgundy red center and the glowing yellow stamens is very dramatic. I did think the flower and bud could be just a bit brighter, with all the bright areas in the bkgd darker so they do not distract.
