    I yield to the Saddle-backed Stork. But I did have a few more long-billed birds that I thought I'd share anyway. Here's an American Avocet catching the setting sun, taken several years ago in the Palo Alto Baylands. (The next frame, a split-second later, was totally flat and drab, as he flew into the shadow of the trees.)

    500f4 + 1.4; ISO 1600, 1/2000s @ f/6.3 manual.

    A bit of subject motion blur on the face area (and the feet are tack sharp!), but sweet light, nice wings up pose, and good composition.

    Magnificent flight shot in beautiful lights. Love the full up wings, colours, details and the way avocet pops up against nice BG.
