    Default Bearded Seal

Just to keep Andreas company .

This guy was quite happy basking on his little patch of pack ice as we gently made our way around in the hope in facing him, however even our small ship gave cause for him to slip back into the water seconds after this shot was taken.

Thanks for either viewing or commenting on the previous image.

Haseeb, there are more 'in the bag' don't worry, however sometimes it's not just about HA.

Hi Steve your bearded friend is more than welcome to join my Grey Seal friends
Good to see another Seal species , as i slowly think there are too many grey ones here on BPN because of me , LOL ! But don´t be afraid more to come in the future .....
Besides your usual high output quality in terms of tone and color , i like the overall comp and the look the Seal gave you . Light was not really on your side but you did really well with the tone and detail under the given circumstances , the spectacular HL are always problematic with these guys .
I might only try to reduce the sharpening a fraction in the HL areas of the neck as they appear a bit over sharp here .
I really love the look of the snow , very well processed with right amount of detail and depth .

    Great work Steve .TFS Andreas

    A very good evening Steve,

Wonderful portrayal of this Bearded Seal, a new species for me and I am amazed at the size of its head - so small in comparison with the body:)

Lovely meditative pose and the reflection adds balance to the frame, this is perfectly exposed and composed and the IQ is great. Love the colours and tonality, but especially the silvery appearance of the subject, this is superb in every way, Steve!

    Warmest regards,

Hi Steve - very well done. Great detail in the ice and seal. The comp works. I agree about backing off on the sharpening on the neck. We saw no bearded seals on my Svalbard trip and only a couple of seals at great distance that slid into the water before we got in camera range.

    TFS,
    Rachel
