    Default Long-Billed Curlew and wave

This will not be to everyone's taste but I think it is kind of neat the way the wave is rolling towards the curlew.
    Canon 1Dx 600mm
    ISO 800 F 5.6 SS 1/1000
Taken just as the sun was setting so the orange glow is accurate.
PP: Crop to ~ 80% FF
Nothing cloned or added, usual LR5 sliders of whites, blacks, clarity and sharpness.
Then moved to CS5 for NR to BG, levels, 1% Detail extractor to the back and wing only and USM to JPEG.
Comments and critiques always appreciated and learned from with thanks,
    Gail

Great light, pose and details. Head turn is perfect. The wave adds interest to the frame IMO, Gail.

Beautiful light and HA. Yes, they really do take on this color at sunset. It looks as if he's waiting until the last possible moment before hopping out of the way. Well captured.

Very cool image Gail. Lovely light and I like the colour on the bird. Most of all, I really love the wave and its position coming towards the bird. Great timing and lovely detail throughout.

Excellent image Gail! I like the sweet light, HA, details and composition. The way the wave comes into focus then back OOF appeals to me as well. Is the Curlew indifferent to the wave or does he look at the wave with interest hoping that it may reveal new morsels?

    Gail:

Very well seen and captured. Quite an impressive wave, with just the right amount of separation, makes you wonder how he will handle it.

    Sweet light and POV.

    Cheers

Very well done. It is a huge wave coming at the bird. Well captured and composed at the golden light. Congratulations.

Wonderful capture with beautiful light. The wave adds alot to the image. He looks really calm about it though its just about to lend on him :)

    Thanks all for your comments.
This guy did not move at all when the wave enveloped him. He just cruised through it with nary a concern.

Hi Gail, sweet, sweet light, and love the colour on the Curlew. Very well thought out to have waited for thewave, and I like how the wave falls away out of the DOF into the URC. Well captured.

Great looking light Gail. I like the pose and the details in this but I really like the wave and its position in the frame. Cool how it shows the exact DOF of the lens, pretty tight. Nice work
