Hi all , i will show you another Grey Seal image from Helgoland .
Just call this guy Robbie N. as he is as old as the surf master himself ....... well almost .
He was just doing his surfing thing for quite a while , going onto the beach and chasing other males , back into the water and surf back onto the beach ....
I like the overall color palette and the surf that hides the seal quite well , a tighter shot would have worked too for sure , but i wanted a very loose crop around the subject .
I just cropped from bottom , top and very slight from LHS .
Canon EOS 1Dx
EF 200-400 with TC engaged ( 560 mm)
Tripod
F 8 ; Iso 1250 ; 1/2000 sec ; man exp , + 0,3 ev auto iso
Processed with Dpp 4 and PS CC 2015
Thanks for either watching or commenting to my previous psoting
Hi Andreas - Nice control of the whites in the waves and the colors look good. The pano crop works well though I would take a bit more off to just above the small wave in the fg. I do wish for a bit more of the seal to be visible in the image, just a personal taste thing.
Sorry to come in so late, I really had to think about this...I like the "arrow" look of this seal among waves but I tend to agree with above comments, perhaps not your best in terms of "expression", since we are all so used to your close-ups and interactions...you have spoilt us, Andreas!!!
There's something shark-like about your subject here and therefore a rather "colder" look to the frame, very interesting indeed but somehow it does not arouse that emotion your previous seal images have. Perfectly executed, great techs, cannot think of anything I would change. Sharp and great IQ, colours spot-on, great timing...Time to go back to the African bush, LOL! We miss you, hope you can join us next year in September or October on another adventure:)
Have a wonderful evening, we'll be in touch, we are a bit scarce lately but hope to bring some fresh images from the Kruger... if the other people don't get in the way:)
Hi Andreas -- techs look good , but overall the image is not working for me , the Seal is too small in the frame rather a head on shot would have been an all together a different thing. TFS !
Thanks so much folks for your different comments , all are very appreciated .
The thinking behind this was to show the Seal in his environment and i like the partly hidden seal in the surf as posted , i have a lot of frames posted in the past with a tighter view of the Seal in the surf , so this time i wanted to go wider , just like a Seal Scape well not that tight but ......
But understand all resentments that not all of you are grabbed by this frame . So thumbs up for your honest critiques
