Default The coming Kalahari King ?

Well not sure about this guy will be the next King in the KTP , as this boy was a bit too fearful from my eyes . He is part of a larger pride we saw at one spot ( Gabriela´s giraffe chase ) , as we stayed very long we could follow a bit of their behavior ..... at one point the lions recognized something we did not see and him here was the first who slopped away like a naughty child. So no good idea for a upcoming King to run away that fast without even looking back , his sisters and older females finally made him calm down , oh boy that was not a good show he made , LOL!!

    Hi Andeas

Yeah, I remember this little one. He was one of the first to dig up and puncture the water pipe, maybe that is why he run when the Parks board bake arrived,he KNEW!
You have captured that adolescent face well, full of mischief and uncertainty....
His eyes tell you that he has caused some mischief, but now he has to get away, before he is blamed
Love the hiding pose behind a sibling's back, portrays his situation well.(HE stole the cookies...)
Light was harsh then already, you did well.
Nice detail in whites and darks.
I wonder what he looks like now?
    Clean BG connect the eyes.
Nice one Buthi, got the emotion here...

Hi Andreas, great detail, tone & form, the image really shows off/conveys the contours nicely in the face and a dreamy BKG to boot! Techs look good too, likewise the PP, however I think it might be one of those images, well for me, that translates better when being there, rather than a still, not a lover of the face over the back, but that's just my take.

Think you have posted/have better , sorry.

    TFS

Hi Andreas - I agree with Steve about the rump not being the ideal fg but there is something about this that I quite like. I think it is the tones and the almost rim light effect of the lighter fur at the edge of the face. Excellent detail and pleasing bg too.

    Rachel

Thanks so much folks for your different views /comments as always greatly appreciated .

Rachel / Steve - i agree with you that the FG rump is not the best FG in the world , but i actually see no difference to a i.e. rock as being a FG element , just having some hair !!

Steve - there is always something better in the past and the future , at least i hope , there is not that great shot that will last forever being the best in ones collection .

    Cheers Andreas

Especially the future, as it shows we have learnt from each other.

    Hello Andreas!

I have an identical frame in my folders, LOL. Well, almost. Just a slightly different angle. Loved it then and I still love it now, maybe because I was there:)

What a cute muzzle and just look at those big eyes, this is Freddie's progeny and yes a future king in the KTP, at least in the Mata Mata area, no doubt about it.

Love everything in this image although I admit I cannot be objective in this case, let me at least say techs are 100% (and they are), just about everything works for me, this young fella being one of my favourite characters in the KTP right now. I still remember him six months before this sighting we had together, he was so shy to cross the road in front of our vehicle and was growling at my camera, taking a big leap from one side of the road to the other and looking back constantly:)

You certainly made my evening, I miss the Kalahari so badly right now and the thought of camping in Kruger does not get my heart going, much as I want to.

Have a pleasant evening, many thanks for this post, brought back special memories...

I like the image. The eyes are interesting-was he wearing contact lenses?
. Techs =OK. The body as fore ground is different, it is as if a rock Etc is more ? appropriate but I think it is more a knee jerk reaction than a problem. I am back for a week from KTP and I am already missing the park. Ben

Thanks Gabriela and Ben for your comments , much appreciated.

Always a treat to read your comments , little sister . Just try to make the best out of Kruger !!!! Could be great too from time to time when you forget about the crowds and maybe you find a decent Leopard or a pack of WD ,

    Cheers Andreas
