Hi Ben, nice snarling pose. Those teeth are menacing and nicely displayed here. The BG is a bit busy though. The bright log at the bottom can be toned down a bit. TFS.

Impressive snarl! Those teeth and that attitude would do some damage! Well captured! Very nicely done. Perhaps a little dodging of his forehead and burning of the upper RHC would direct the eye to the middle a bit more. But good as is. I agree about toning down the brightness at the bottom. TFS!

Thanks for the comments. I agree. The lions killed a Giraffe in a thorn bush and the Heyenas were all over the remaining carcass thus the busy back ground. In spite of the technical problems with the photo, the teeth-he must have an excellent dentist-made it for me.

    Hi Ben
Took the liberty to do RP:
Masked curve layer- Blending mode- multiply
Masked Sat Red on BG reducing reds on BG
Masked Blue saturation on Subject-reduced blue sat, increase lightness
Curve layer Soft light blending mode @ 30% to increase contrast.
    D&B layer selective.
    Selective sharpening for web.
    WDYT?

Hi Ben - those are some impressive teeth. Well timed to get the snarl. Andre has taken the rp up a notch. I would also try and tame some of the highlights/whites right by the whiskers and mouth on the right.

    TFS,
    Rachel

    Hello Ben!

Much has been said already, just wanted to congratulate you on this image portraying a spotted hyena as the fierce predator she is:) A very unusual pose and it shows the "darker side" of the species, I find this exciting and beautiful at the same time, love the snarl and attitude from the subject and I think you have framed this very well. I am enjoying your work and following your posts with much interest, keep them coming please

Wishing you a wonderful rest of the week,
    Gabriela Plesea

Loving the expression and intense light here, Ben.
Andre's repost has improved it IMHO.
