    Default Single Flash Black-Chinned Hummer

Both Turkey Hollow and Los Madrones Ranches were loaded with these guys and I couldn't get a shot of them last time because of rain. This time under overcast skies using single on bracket flash with a hillside as a BG I got some nice images.

It was nice to get a shot of a hummer that was not a Rubythroated, not that I would take the opportunity to shoot them in a second.

    Thanks for looking,
    Lou

I like softlit images such as this! I also prefer some wing blur with Hummingbird images... this is a winner in my book!

This is alike an oriental tapestry in beauty, well composed and a joy to look at. I may be tempted to slightly blue the plant (almost imperceptibly) as not to compete with the Hummer. You cleaned up in your trip!

Great light, flash work, flower and BG. Details look good, too.

    Hi Lou!

This has a very nice feel with the soft colors, and the balance. It is very visually appealing. Very nice, and I have no suggestions for improvement!

I love this natural light image. When there is enough light and the conditions are right there is no doubt that fill flash is much more natural looking. Well done!

Really nice capture. I like Fabs' suggestion of blurring the flowers a bit. I gave it a try and increased the local contrast on the bird a touch ( USM - Amount 7, radius 150, threshold 0). A small amount of selective sharpening through an edge mask. Here's the result. Hope you like it. Your original post is quite nice as it is. I'm just thinking out loud (visually).

Amazing image. I love the blurred wings, great perch cutting a dynamic diagonal through the image. I love it.
