Bit more room all around for me would improve this.
Mighty fine feather details and nice, sharp image Ian.

Very nice clean shot with loads of feather detail on the bird, good BG to set it all off, great work Ian.

The perch is not the best but the bird and background are excellent.

I like everything going on here. Great perch, background, head angle, very sharp and detailed. Is this related to shrikes? It looks very similar to a shrike.

Hi Ian, lovely pose, and well done on the overall exposure - you nailed those blacks. The vertical comp works well, and I like the thin forked perch.

    Hi Geoff,
Thanks for your feedback. This is Lanius cabanisi. You are quite right in thinking it looks like a true shrike. In Africa, quite a few of the Lanius shrikes are called Fiscal from the Afrikaans word fiskaal meaning a public official, especially hangman.
    Kind regards, Ian.

I would prefer a composition to show a little more space at the bottom but I'd still regard this as perfect portrait...nice work.
