Been super busy with work and haven't posted for some time. Here is one from my Wyoming trip this spring. This is a pissed off adult male Swainson's hawk that had a nest on top of a telephone pole off of a dirt road. We pulled over when we saw the nest and he took off and circled the car with his cries of disapproval. We caught a few nice flight frames and then left him to tend to his nest. I think they were on eggs or had very young chicks as we couldn't see any young at the nest. Hope you like it.

Thanks as always for looking and for your input. I appreciate it.

Love the open beak and head sharpness! Definitely showing attitude! A little more shutter speed would have been nice but the body, feet and tail are still wel presented. I still like the image a lot!

Thanks for the comment Karen. 1/3200 is pretty fast for most IF stuff and I use it for most raptor IF shots unless I am shooting falcons hunting or fast songbirds in flight. I like the fact that the wings show a bit of motion blur and the body and head are sharp. Gives a nice sense of movement.
    Thanks again.

Excellent flight image here. The calling pose and the colour are standout features. Very nice work indeed.

Super capture David. Beautiful light and angle. I like the oof backgound terrain which anchors the scene (rather than all sky). Outstanding work. Regards, Ian.

excellent pose and details, love the light. I might de-saturate the sky a bit

    sweet frame man!

BTW, the wing tips are simply out of DOF. shutter speed was def. fast enough for this bird

Wonderful flight shot, David. The crying pose is priceless.
I found it interesting that the wing tips were blurred even at 1/3200 s.
The body and head are super sharp though.

Arash, I think you are right that the wings are not blurred from lack of ss but just that they are just outside the DOF. I did desaturate the sky quite a bit from the original. For some reason the evening light gave this frame a ton of color. Thanks for your input.

Hi Dave, excellent head position with relation to the slightly twisted body, and you timed this very well to get the open beak showing big time attitude. Sharpness spot on where it counts, and the overall light looks real sweet. Well captured.

Killer light, details and calling flight pose. Love the mixed BG. I actually like the motion blur in the wing tips a lot - make the image more dynamic.
    Nicely done as always Dave.

What a great flight shot! Excellent details, DOF and pose! For my part the open beak and blurred wing tips does alot for the image. Nice work!
