I captured the Grey Heron this evening. I loved the pose, which was different from the norm for this bird, especially as it was hunting for fish at the time.

    Thanks for having a look.

Nice stretching pose in lovely light. I would prefer the bird chose a more natural-looking perch rather than a piece of sawn lumber. The bird is framed a bit central for my taste - I would explore some other options. Regards, Ian.

    I love the pose Will.
A special image, very unusual pose, though I guess not unexpected once perched on a post.
    Well done mate, TFS!

Excellent work Will. Striking an interesting pose. I always give grey herons a bit of extra shutter speed to compensate for the unexpected blow out and loss of detail in the throat and cheeks area. I'm quite happy with the central position here. Perch is not the best but fortunate that the feet span it. I might try straightening the perch even though the capture may be accurate.

The thumbnail doesn't do this justice.
Great light, good IQ, nice exposure. In a perfect world the perch would look a bit more weathered, but not a big deal for me.
Only thing I would suggest is a bit more room to the right.
