My preference is for a little more room on the RHS and a little less on the LHS. There are patches in the crown lacking in feather detail suggesting that you blew out the yellow. Regards, Ian.

Assuming this was at O'Reilly's Guesthouse where they are tame as duckpond ducks due to the copious amounts of sultanas hand fed to them; not a really wild bird that would be hard to get this close to.
Nice portrait in any case, though as Ian mentioned, the yellows really lack detail.
I would've been changing position for a less blobby looking BG, but it looks reasonable as is.

Your assumption is correct Akos it was at o'reilly's, although there was no aid used in this photo! secondly I never said that it was hard to get close to (but thanks for pointing that out :P).

Just the same, thanks for the feedback guys, I added a bit of detail to the hotspot on the head using clone stamp and changed the composition.

    Cheers,

Thanks Jim, Just letting you know that this photo was not as easy as Akon makes out (sitting ducks),O'reillys is around two hours driver from the Goldcoast up the top of a huge mounatin deep into a rain forest, I had to wake up at 4am to get there early for when the birds are active, secondly i experienced no light up there. i'm from Melbourne and only had one morning to spend up there.

Next at the guesthouse there was hardly any spots where the bowerbirds would perch in the clear, I found most of them in cluttered trees. While I was there I did ask the ranger if he minded if i fed the bowerbird with sultanas and he was a complete tosser and said that he would give me a huge fine, he then said I had to feed the birds in the designated feeding area as they were wild birds.

Unfortunately in the designated area there was only common parrots, so yeah i was able to get a few shots of the bowerbirds near the guesthouse but it took hours.
Next this shot was not a set up so to say i could just move around for better back ground was not be possible. Funny when some people make things seem easier then they actually are. I would like to see Akons photo of the bowerbird since it's so easy and he lives local.
    Cheers, Merv

Hi Mervyn, There are some issues with the IQ here. There are edge artifacts created for NR and there are problems in the yellows. I do not know if the yellows can be saved and more detail created. Your efforts as described is admirable.
