    Default Little Grebe with Bullhead

I visited a site in Derbyshire in order to photograph Bank Voles. Whilst walking along side the canal path a Little Grebe popped up next to me, but too close focus. I had a 2X teleconverter attached to my Sigma 300f2.8 and I wanted to remove it but I knew that if I did I'd lose the opportunity of having a good view of the fish in the birds bill. Anyway this image is what I ended up with. I could not get lower because of the canal bank. The bird soon consumed the fish.

    Canon 7D, Sigma 300f2.8 , 2x teleconverter...hand held.

    ISO500, f6.3, 1/640 sec

    Small crop for composition
    Levels adjustment, saturation and sharpening.

Superb shat Adrian. The close crop effect makes it in my opinion. (We both should be asleep at this time !)

Hi Adrian, good close up and a good HA from the Grebe. I thought that the meal would be too big for the little guy, but you mentioned it went down the hatch. He even had some veggies with it too.

Great result, Adrian. Prey really adds interest. I like the soft plumage textures and water droplets.

Very decent shot considering your environmental constraints. Well done mate, I really like it!

Hard to believe he was able to swallow that fish.
Image looks good despite your limitations.
    I like your crop,
    Gail
