    Default Pig-tailed Macaque

Photographed in Borneo last month. It appeared to me that the macaques were always very interested in what was going on with the rest of the troop. I believe this large male was trying to sneak a good look at something another male was doing further along. His stealth in moving through the tall grasses and the intensity on his face was very fascinating to watch. I did not see what happened as his disappeared into even deeper grasses.

    Canon 1Dx, Canon 200-400 f4 L IS w/1.4 @ 540mm, 1/500, f6.3, exp. comp. +2/3, ISO 640.

    c & c most appreciated.

Hi Nancy - A nice profile of the macaque with excellent sharpness and nice detail. Only thing I would do if it was mine is a luminosity mask to tame the highlights at about 40-45%. Nice one.

Lovely to see another species here, and this is a fine shot.

The concentration on his face is evident for all to see, and whilst the grasses on the right form an important part of the shot, I do wish the single stalk across the body wasn't there. I fully understand there wasn't much you could have done about it in the field though

The light on his face is beautiful

Thank you all for your comments! Haseeb, I think the red might be blood from an insect bite or a scratch. Mike, I debated with myself over that single piece of grass. Thought I might take it out with content aware or cloning, but then I thought the result would not be seamless enough. I should try. Rachel, thank you for the luminosity suggestion.

Hi Nancy a very nice image with a priceless facial expression of the Macaque .
The framing is not that ideal from my POV with too much of dead space on LHS , as the interesting parts are on RHS including the virtual point of interest for the monkey .
I agree with the HL need to be toned down a bit .

So my RP is trying to illustrate my points , TFS Andreas

You could remove the grass, but maybe just leave it. While we probably wish it was not there, it does not detract a huge amount.
There is a gorgeous expression on the monkey's face.
He looks really intrigued and you were in a great position to capture the image.
    Thanks for sharing.

Hi Nancy, like the perspective here and the side elevation you took here.

I like the way the light has 'sculptured' the head and provided the curves, hollows and contours of the face. If you choose to remove the blade of grass you can do it seamlessly within PSCC, no problem, but only think about it if it makes a big difference. Either posting works for me, just depends on how you wish to portray the image.

Andreas, I see your point about the cropping. It helps to see exactly what you mean. Thanks! Thank you Akos and Steve. I apologize for such a delayed response.
