Beautiful image Loukie Great having all good head positions. Excellent scan quality. Would try increasing density on the nest and going over the bg with some gaussian blur. Also would have like seeing the entire nest. Very fine image .... a keeper !!!!

    Loukie,

Great action you captured - way to go. Alfred had some excellent suggestions. To lower the contrast a bit, I suggest a reverse s-curve. I posted a revised version with a screen capture of the s-curve dialog to demonstrate it. I overdid the correction a bit to make it more visible in the post. I have saved as presets multiple versions of reverse s-curves that I use. In the curve adjustment dialog, you can save whatever curve you are applying as a preset using the fly-out menu (little right facing arrow). The correction may not show up too well in the repost but on my computer it made a big difference.

After doing a reverse s-curve, blacks can get a little flat looking. You don't want to add contrast back but you can go to the Selective Color Adjustment layer and add black 2% to 5% to the black and neutral colors for add the pop back in w/o increasing contrast.

Incredible timing and I love that you were able to get all the little heads facing the same direction and Mom with lunch. A keeper for sure and Robert had some wonderful suggestions !!!

Thank you Alfred and Robert for the trouble you have taken with my little Flycatcher, I appreciate it , I just hope that I will be able to replicate it when needed on another photo. Thank you Judy for good crits on my other photos as well as this one. L
