Default Grey Go-Away Bird ( Grey Loerie )

This bird was called a Grey Loerie, but now has been officially named the Grey Go-away Bird. Its call is very distinctive, ( sounds just like someone is saying " Go - awaaaay " )warning animals and other birds of danger in the near vicinity. I visited the Pilanesberg National Park on Sunday, and instead of Kingfishers, I came away with a few of these guys. Taken early morning, with a distant mountain as a background.

Great to see you had success and good weather for Pilanesberg, Stu. Lovely typical perch and winter BG and great to get a cooperative Kwevoel - I find they are usually very observant and wary of long lenses pointed at them. Perfect exposure and I like the striding pose.

Beautiful bird, nicely shown. Techs look perfect as always. Love the perch and background. I wish so much Florida had mountains to get backgrounds like this. Thank you for sharing, Stu.

    Stunning capture Stu,

The light was beautiful and subject indeed cooperative Love the perch and the BG is awesome, unusual pose and quite fun, with the Go-Away Bird running away:)

Techs 100% as expected, great IQ and the framing is superb!

    Warmest regards,

    This is terrific Stu!
Love the light and love the running pose on the branch.
In my experience it is very hard to get these guys against a clean BG so kudos to you.
The color palette is terrific as well.
    Excellent image!

Since it appears to be running away from you I don't mind the lacking eye contact.
Nicely executed, love the perch and the BG. From what I read above, it's not easy to get them with a clean one.
    Well done mate! TFS!
