One of my earliest childhood memories is seeing these exquisite birds at a waterhole, while on holiday in the lowveld. Their piercing sree-seee-seee call and beautiful, powder blue colouration make them an unforgettable part of their dry woodland and savanna habitats.
I was able to sneak up on a pair of them recently, while birding the gardens surrounding our chalet in Kololo Game Reserve.

Hi Rich, at this low perspective, seems like you were leopard crawling great angle. Good detail and sharp, and yes, one cant mistake these guys in the bush - those blues stand out so well.

    Richard:

A special color scheme for sure. Excellent low POV, while still maintaing a good view of the lower portions of the bird.

The light angle gave a nice sense of form to the bird.

    Cheers

    Very nice Richard.
You sure got low and dirty for this!
    Bird looks terrific.
For my personal taste I might take a bit off the top.
    Well done,
    Gail

Excellent image Richard... a sweet bird for sure. Superb POV. If I got down like you I'd need three weeks to get up!
