Default MY bill is pretty long too! - common loon with bill in profile

This fellow was captured two weeks ago in northern Michigan. Probably a male, but not easy to tell.

    D4 600VR with TC-14, EFL 850. f/7.1 1/1250 ISO 800 . From my boat.

Post: Minor crop for comp, added a sliver of canvas on left. Debated about the catchlight, but stayed with it as taken. Cleaned up specular reflections on bill. Toned down whites a bit. Selective sharpening.

    Advice and comments always appreciated.

    Cheers

Nice shooting angle, excellent pose and details, Randy. Love the velvety head, neck band and the beautiful eye.

Hi Randy, your usual low shooting angle from your boat sets this off nicely. Once again exposure and sharpness spot on. Interesting colour to the plumage on the head - Im used to seeing more of a green sheen, rather than more brown here. There is a slight hint of green on the chin and back of the head. Do their colours 'change' due to the angle of light?

    This is lovely Randy.
A nice intimate POV but what sets this one apart for me is the lovely colors in the water.
IQ excellent as always. Lovely detail to the feathers and whites.

Wow Randy, carcker shooting angel, beautiful colours in the BG and incredible detail. I also really like the blues in the water. TFS

Looks really beautiful as presented Randy. THe catchlight is big, but looks very natural to me.

I like the low angle, sharpness, details, pose, water color and composition. Excellent image Randy!
