    A male Red-rumped parrot in typical habitat, taken today along the Murray river in South Australia. Canon EOS 7D Mark II, EF600mm f/4L IS USM +1.4x III, 1/1000, f8, ISO 250, monopod. Cropped, resized and sharpened in CS6, removed OOF twig in foreground. Thanks for looking, all critique welcome.

    Splendid looking bird in nice light and colors. Good pose, although if the tail hadn't been hidden it would be even better. I find the twigs on the left somewhat distracting. They could, of course, be cloned out, but that may be more intervention than you like to do.

    Hi Gerhard, I like the angled pose, and nicely placed that most of the parrot is against the open smooth BG. I really like the colours on this fellow, and the feather detail shows up nicely. Bill pointed out the distracting reeds behind the parrot.

    Spectacular looking bird here, awesome colours. Good BG, and nice perch. I agree there a few too many grasses in the back - would you have been able to move to your left without spooking the subject or falling down a ravine?
