I love this theme! Here is a flower that I associate with those old southern plantation houses with the wide covered porches. Fortunately I have one of these trees in my new Arkansas yard with blooms low enough to photograph.

Perfect Effects tobacco filter, fractalius, and impressions at 64%. Some tweaking here and there.

We have a young tree in our yard that has put forth 4 blooms this year so I am excited for the possibilities of photographing it as it matures. Beautiful The center is spot on sharp and the effects add a softness that balances that. Canpt decide how I feel abut that whole leaf on the right. All the other leaves are partial, so am thinking maybe a crop from the right to snip off some of that one would balance, but then I tend sometimes to get too symmetrical, so I'll let others chime in (or not) on that Love it overall.

The subject on the diagonal and the detail in the whites are lovely Nancy. I like the dark corners framing the subject as well. Love the center of the flower as well. Really nice work.

Nancy, I agree that the details in the whites are beautiful. I also love the detail in the center of the flower. I find the darker outside leaves a touch distracting, but overall, it is lovely!

Nancy, this is gorgeous! One of the advantages of living in the south - magnolias I love the way the creamy soft petals are embracing the center which has a perfect amount of detail. And I love the touches of gold in the lower leaves. The one thing I noticed and I'm not sure if I would leave it or take it out is the spikey upper edge on the outermost right petal. I'd probably leave it in but it draws my eye to it. Very nice work.

    Nancy,

Greetings. The processing gives the image a pleasing tone... Georgia O'Keeffe like but with more detail on the central parts. I like how the front petals give way to the detail. Thanks for posting.

    Cheers,

Hey, Nancy, the spikey bit is kind of interesting. I'd probably leave it in.

I love it just as it is! It's hard to find magnolias with low branches around here so I'm glad your tree offers that opportunity!
