Yellow-crowned Night-Heron juveniles at Ocean City Rookery, 6:30 AM. Minor crop, and I slightly reduced the distance between the two birds to compose better in a 9:16 pano. Removed part of an oof heron in the fg.

Here's a tighter crop showing just the left bird.

Excellent Bill. To be honest I prefer the second one. Nice comp with the single bird. JMHO.

Like them both, Bill. The morning light and detail is grand. Love the crest raised with baby feathers still hanging on on the the left/single YCNH.

Prefer the punky looking second post Bill ,even so the OP is certainly worth a good look, nice work.

I think the birds are too far apart in the first post. In order for the image to work I think there needs to be more interaction between the two birds. The second post is far better IMHO.

I agree with adrian, that the birds are too far apart in the OP. But the repost is great in all regards. Nice work Bill.

Both versions work fine, Bill. The first is nice by showing the two facing off, the second shows an nice crest up pose with excellent details.

I like both....I do find the birds a bit far apart in the 1st but that would have been okay if the right bird had had a better head angle, mirroring the left one more. I think overall, I prefer the 2nd version, the background works better in the 2nd even though it is from the same frame. In the first I get the impression of atmospherics in the background, making it a bit nervous looking especially at the grey to white transition. In the 2nd that affect is minimized for whatever reason.

    Wonderful image, Bill!

I like both images, and I am fine with the distance between the subjects in the OP.

Lovely detail and pose in both frames, superb colours, nice and sharp. I would consider cropping a tad from the top for a more pano look in the OP, thinking it might add more emphasis on the birds and their "conversation".

Love the title, by the way:)

    Enjoyed viewing, very much!

    Kind regards,

Thank you all. I also prefer the second, cropped image. But I thought there was something amusing about the two birds facing each other across the void, and figured it was worth sharing.
