Wonderful detail -- great catch for you both! I love how the tongue continues the line of the throat. It looks like he has speared the fish. Is he wondering how to get it from there down his throat? (If he isn't -- I am!)

It looks like the bird is trying to focus on the Florida Gar and work out what to do next. I am always amazed by the size of prey that herons can cope with. This is a well executed image. Though not a fan of squarish crops it seems to work here IMHO. Nice work:)

Great stuff...the plumage looks different than the GBHs that I've shot and that is much bigger prey than I'm used to. Great details, great action, great shot.

Good catch, Joe. Nice and sharp with good details. I think you could probably pull out more details in the dark tones of the fish - shadows/highlights on the jpg works but working on the RAW file with the shadows slider in LR would be better.

I really like the view of the tongue!
    Sharp, well exposed.
I agree with above re: getting a bit more detail in the blacks on the fish.
    Nice one Joe

Hi Joe, I really like the pose of the Heron, I can see he is concerned with getting down his catch. You have brought out the plumage detail very well and nice and sharp too.
