I took this image in 2010 at Fort De Soto, Florida.
I returned in the two consecutive years and the bird was still there.
    Thanks for looking.

Great shot, Karl. Good angle on the bird, and POV (you probably got your knees wet). The wave in the background makes a nice setting. Out of curiosity, what time of year was this taken? Interesting plumage -- some interim stage of molt?

A superb portrait image Karl. The light gives good clarity and makes the image 'fresh' and the layered background is just as I like, especially with the surf. A top draw image.

    Karl:

Can't beat this for fitting the theme, a very impressive bill.

The waves in the background really make the head pop from the frame. Nice angle in frame.

Although quite bright, you handled the dynamic range well.

    Cheers

Now that is taking the theme to the limit!! Great shot, nice details, good low angle and background. No complaints here.

I love these birds! Nice image Karl.
Light was bright but you handled it well.
I saw a long-billed curlew at Fort DeSoto in 2013 but not in 2014 or 2015.
    I love their call.

Hi Karl, I like the 3D feel here and what a lovely pose. The colours look good, and the white surf in the BG adds to the image. Well captured for the theme.
