Excellent capture. The rain and the pose all make an interesting subject especially the rain bouncing off the wing. It is a pity the background is so pale in the top RH quarter.

    Hi Merv,

You did well with exposing this shot. It would be interesting to compare notes with F&P critiques!

    Cheers

I love the pose, rain, wind-ruffled feathers. The rain drops bouncing off the wing is a very neat bonus! If you could have placed yourself higher (although I know you were in a vehicle) to avoid the bright highlights that would have been good. The comp is bordering tight for me (especially above) but still OK. Most people avoid inclement weather, but as we can see here the results can often be dramatic.

Very nice and unique. The rain coming down sideways and the splashing off the wing really creates the blustery feeling. Techs look good and I like the details. I might try selectively lightening the face and eye a little. Well done

Very appealing shot, nice to see something different. I too would like to see the face subtly lightened, might give the eye a bit more sparkle. the rain and wind really push this to a nice level.

Agree with the comments above re the light bit at the top,but that apart do think this is great, you really have caught the atmosphere and the conditions, excellent.

    Wonderful capture, Mervyn!

Very dramatic, original, and as refreshing as rain:)

Great pose from this little bird, nice techs, a little more PP work up there in that bright area would make a difference though.
A very attractive image and I enjoyed viewing so much, TFS

    Kind regards,

I absolutely love this! The raindrops bouncing off the wing are wonderful.
If you filled in the bright area in the BG and lightened the cheek and eye area you would elevate this image from really really nice to superb!!
