Redstartwith mouthful ofEphemer danica (large mayflies) Here in the forest these birds make the most of the food that the small river running through provides. They always make the most of a mayfly hatch.
Same bird as last post- in the grden. Off wader chasing now- first time for over a year.

A superb portrait and pretty much a dream shot. It does not get much better John. I wished we had redstarts here.

Wow John, really nicely done!! I love the perch, pose, and of course the prey items. Nice and sharp, great colours. Maybe a bit more below, and maybe blend in the darker oof "arc" in ULC? All-in-all quite a fantastic image, lots to like here!

One of your best frames IMO. It has everything. Pose, color, detail, perch, BG and a really good look at the prey items. This one rocks!! I agree on the ULC clean up.

    This is terrific John.
Only way to improve this for me would be a bit more space at the bottom.

Hi John, you nailed a perfect pose - seems like he's posing just to show off his meal. I do like the mixture of oranges and blacks on him, sharp where it counts, and another vote for a touch more space below. Well captured.

Great pose, perch with interesting elements, good head angle and prey included takes it up a notch. Nice background. No complaints here, very nice image.
