This was shooting fish in a barrel, as this is a professional model at our local bird rescue center. But I love the detail I can capture in a setting like that. Light and BGs are a toss of the dice at an open house day with quite a few people milling about and interacting with the birds and their handlers, but sometimes it comes together.

    Canon 7D2, 100-400 II at 286, ISO 800, f/10, 1/400 sec. Handheld.

Basic and minimal adjustments in LR. Into PS only for some added canvas top and right and minor retouching to the OOF areas and to clone out the reflection of a utility pole in the eye. No sharpening, NR or other tonal work.

This is a handsome bird for sure and it looks very focused on something and I doubt it is ice cream:) Excellent study, colours and detail especially good since you have not sharpened. I particularly like the eye details.
I would love to test out the 100-400 II and then I tell myself don't give into lens envy.

Handsome bird indeed, you did a good job with it. F/10 was just enough. I love the detail.

Loving the details....although I have amazing access to wild bald eagles, I am also always tempted and often partake in some close detailed shots at our local Wildlife Preserve.
