Something a little different after doing ortons This is a shot of a weathervane atop an ancient villa in Pienza. The cloud formation behind it was spectacular but I decided to change it to black and white using Threshold and then added a border from Nik. I know it's got lots of negative space at the top but for some reason I liked it like that.
    Thanks for looking.

I love negative space. (in this and in general) I really like the image Cheryl! If I was to be picky I would say fill in that tiny white space on the roofline. Great OOTB thinking.

Love it! I'm not often a fan of negative space but this one works because the base is so solid and interesting.

Thanks, Jackie and Diane. Jackie, I noticed the roofline space as soon as I posted. I opted to reveal more of the roof rather than less because I think this is the way it would have looked if I'd moved a hair. PS - And I corrected the spelling in the title! It has been bugging me since I posted but we've been having thunderstorms and power outages and I've had my computer unplugged.

I really like this silhouette! One of the reasons all that negative space works for me is the way your eye rises up to the rooster and then the simple vertical lines of the border keep that upward motion. The various shapes of the roof top add interest. As always Cheryl, you capture something and create an interesting and unique image.

It takes courage to use so much negative space...But it works!

Yes, it works. And the large ant of white above balances the black so well. Good choices all around.
