I visited a wetlands near the airport yesterday morning, and although there werent many Gulls around, I did manage this landing with a reflection. This is a Grey Headed Gull ( juvie ) captured in early morning winter light.

    Marvellous image, Stuart Sir.
Absolutely superb landing with elegant reflection in beautiful lights.
I like the curves of wings, beautiful HA, water ripples around gull and composition.

    Regards,
    Satish.

Excellent calm reflection Stuart, like the nice toned down colour, can't see anything that I would like to change.

Very nice. I am not a fan of most reflections unless they are perfect like this one is. I think this reflection deserved to be included in the composition as you have done. A very nice an calm image even with the wings raised. Peaceful.

    Hi Stu
I,m nota reflection fan as I,ve said many times but this one is maybe one of the exceptions. Calm water made it possible. Nice one.

Quite a stunning image! Perfect wing position and very pleasing HA. Very nice control of the blacks. And yes, a perfect reflection! You nailed this one!

    Stu:

A good example of a making the most of a common bird. The still water and excellent body position makes it work. It is interesting that the reflection seems noticeably larger than the bird itself.

    Well seen and captured.

    Cheers

Yes, a perfect reflection, with great wing position. And I like the morning light captured in the ripples.

Thanks Randy. I know your profession so well picked up on the difference in size - I can see it now after you pointing it out.

Hi Stu - So this is from the place near the airport! Nicely seen and captured. Love the light and the perfect reflection. Interesting point by Randy about the relative size of reflection and subject.

    Rachel

Gorgeous reflection and perfect timing to catch the water with just the first ripples! The thing about reflections is that they aren't symmetrical, as the "view" of the underside of the wing (in this case) is that which you would see if your eye was at the water level looking up at the wing. A symmetrical reflection is always a give-away of a composited image.
