This humble fellow was hoping to make his bill look longer, so he could qualify for the new theme. Yellow-crowned Night-Heron from several weeks ago.

D7200, 500f4, ISO 1250, 1/2500s @ f/8 manual. Full-frame (added sliver on top, cropped equal amount from bottom.)

Funny title that goes with the theme of the month for sure:). I like the nice IQ, the nice light and the green environment; I find the OOF branch a little distracting here. TFS Bill.

    Bill:

Nicely exposed, sharp, tiny stick in bill cute. The juxtaposition of that stick and the branch in the bg gave me the impression that he was painting the bg.

I appreciate Lorant's point about the stick in the bg, but for me, because the head is turned a bit that way, it seems to give him a focus point to be looking at.

    Cheers

Excellent image with a great BG. The stick is a plus, but wish for eye contact.

All good to me. The bird is clearly focused/contemplating on something. I'm fine with the BG.

Great capture, Bill. Love that early morning light. Stick is a very nice plus.

Hi Bill, lovely light in this, and I do like the intense stare. You have brought out the feather detail very well, sharp, and the stick protruding from the bill adds interest.

If you want this in this month's theme, you need to add 'theme' to your title.

Lovely image! The technicals, aesthetics and composition all work for me. Well done.

Thanks Stu. I figured this guy didn't qualify. Maybe he'll find a bigger stick next time.
