Hi folks havenīt posted an african image for a longer time ...... so i would like to battle with Sanjeevīs watery Elephants .
But i go for the more dry bigger boys from Etosha .
Shot was taken on the dry open plains between Namoutoni and Chudop WH . The two boys did fight seriously for quite a longer time , i already posted some images of the two in the past .

Thanks for looking and commenting to my previous thread
Hi Andreas - Good to see you posting something from Africa too. Nice golden light and the dof works well. Looks like they are trying to prove their manhood in more ways than one. Nice detail and texture. I'll have to look up Iridient Developer. Only thing I might do is burn the white rocks on the left so that they don't draw the eye.
Hi Rachel , thanks for your reply , much appreciated as always .
I agree with you regarding the whitish rocks , i was thinking while processing removing them completely .......... then i forgot about .
Regarding Iridient Developer , i quite like the output of this piece of software .
I use Iridient Developer exclusive for the 1D MK II + III files as i do no longer like DPP 3 since DPP 4 is on the market , I am still hoping for support for those cams by DPP 4 .............. but i think Mr Canon is not fulfilling my wishes .
For the 1D MK IV and 1Dx i stick with DPP 4 as it is giving me the best results from my POV , but Iridient Developer does also give nice output on those files .
You have much more options than in DPP in most cases , meaning when you have a "problematic " image from the tonal POV .
But you have to be mac based , does not work on a win machine.
Hi Andreas -- i so like this image ! it has a vintage feel to it . The details and texture as Rachel said looks very good and the composition also works . keep posting these African images also , TFS !!
Hope you are enjoying this Sunday evening, I certainly am - lots of new images to view and such a variety of species...
What I like most about your image - apart from the interaction between the two ellies - is the angle you chose to shoot from: it looks as if the two were fighting but somehow in agreement to keep an eye on this German guy:)
Lovely colours, textures, detail, and the mood is one of "pending disaster", given the clash of those tuskers...
Boetie - I could be wrong, and not sure if they were there or a consequence of processing, there are those "lines" in the sky and I do not quite know what to make of them? Hope you do not mind my question and I am not usually in the habit of nit-picking, but the pattern and colour looks a bit unusual to me - can you clarify?
Overall an awesome capture and Haseeb was right, it has this lovely "vintage" look to it. Reminds me of those old photographs displayed at Hiltop Camp in Hluhluwe Game Reserve, taken 80 years ago or so...
Warmest regards from your Sister in Wintery Africa
Nice moment here Andreas - that warm golden light of the last hour of day in this region (and the Kgalagadi in fact) has no comparison, especially combined with the dry dusty air.
I think it can stand a hint more subtle sharpening?
Thanks Haseeb , Sanjeev , Gabriela and Morkel for your kind comments , much appreciated .
Morkel - sharpening is right for me as is , but could also stand a bit more without looking too crunchy if wished .
Gabriela - i see what you are seeing , ms eagle eye , rechecked the PSD file and it is not there , but i know where it is coming from . As i treated the sky with two blend modes and a blurred mask for more detail i take the risk of posterization when downsizing , and i honestly forget to check the sky after the downsizing .
I coud have just blurred the sky a fraction and no lines would have appeared .
Hi Gab you should know that i have no problem at all with what you call nit picking , and i think what you did is not even that, so keep going with it.
