I managed to get a shot or two of the swallows catching flies as opposed to taking a drink.

Awww, how did you do it?

Just wonderful, Jonathan, what lovely capture of this super fast little bird!

Nice and sharp, good DOF, and a great behaviour shot!

Really enjoyed viewing, thank you for sharing this, and I just love the POV...

    Kind regards,

Hi Jon, these are very difficult to catch in flight. They fly so fast. You did well with nice angle, sharpness and BG.

That is great, and I have first hand experience at trying to catch these speed demons in flight! Did you also see them feeding their young in mid-flight? I saw a lot of that when trying to catch them in a field where the young would fly from a tree and they would meet in mid-air and exchange what they had caught.

Hi Warren so far I have got them splashing and just flying over the pond - no feeding of the young as yet. Hope to return during the week....if it stops raining. The weather here is absolutely lousy if it isn't raining it is windy and if it isn't windy it is cold and cloudy.

Well nailed Jonathan. All I would do is reduce the brightness of the large pale highlight above the bird.

Great work, getting one of these in focus when the background is water is a hard task. Love the overall image and the inclusion of some insect in the beak. I agree with Adrian that the OOF blobs at top of frame are distraction. I would consider maybe cropping these out and ending up with a tighter crop if the image size can take that. Otherwise trying to clone out the brightest spots would help the image.

Hi Jon, Ive tried tracking these guys, it aint easy, they fly so fast and are so small. Very well done here, as you obviously nailed the focus on this one.
