Nice to get back to the pool after a long break.
One of my favourite birds. Bit nervous at water though.

The warbler seems to me to be very sharp in parts but less so in others, I am not sure if the slow shutter speed may be causing this or if it is your sharpening technique or even limited DOF, given the appearance of the water I suspect it was also breezy. Close ups of little birds are far from easy!

    Hi Jon
At thast shutter speed your lucky to get anything at all sometimes, and I cant start cutting trees down ! Shoulders usually appear sharper on many birds due to feather structure at that point.
Its not breezy- just a bird bathing on the left just out of shot.

    John:

The overall effect here is very nice, with soft light, rich colors, beautiful effect in the water, well framed with tail on diagonal.

Head angle works because of the water which gives him an obvious thing to be looking at.

    Cheers

Lovely setting, with beautiful colors in the water. Nice pose, good bg but NR could help. Bird feels just a bit dark to me except for the undertail covert.

A wonderful pool shot here John. The bird is held in a superb pose. The detail is good. I like also the fact that you have not over brightened the image. I'm not keen on dull scenes being given too much unnatural digital illumination. As for noise, again I do not see the noise as being problematic as presented. It is my belief that noise or graininess should appear consistent throughout an image. There is nothing more off putting, for me, than a mirror smooth background that looks like ISO 50 and a bird that looks like ISO 800. It may appear OK on a monitor but on a large print it can look a bit odd...I stress IMHO.

    Thanks all
.Adrian I have to agree. What worries me is that after posting on forums for a few years, if not careful one tends to gear your postings to what you think others may like, making it very easy to loose your individuality.

    Bird looks great.
I would fix that odd looking area in the water just in front of the bird.
And yes to NR on the BG.
    Love the water swirls.

    Hi Gail
Thanks Not quite sure which bityou mean but the whole area of water is odd due to the slow shutter and fast moving ripples from the bird bathing outof shot on the left. I,ll have a play.
