One of the birds from the Lake district. These birds have naturally colonized the Lake district in Cumbria. We have at least 6 pairs nesting this year which is great for a species that has been absent from England for so long. A reintroduction scheme in Rutland has just produced its 100th fledgling so the future is looking good for them. A long way to go before we have them on telegraph poles but we are getting there slowly.

Nice high key image, Ivan. Love the wing position, fish in the talon and eye contact.

Lovely capture for your neck of the woods Ivan. We have a few up here, but i have yet to get a good capture of one, believe me I have tried. The bird pops nicely with the white BG. I like the detail on the wings. was it a large crop.

    Thanks for sharing

Excellent flight pose Ivan. If mine I would brighten it a bit. I'm glad they are bouncing back....I wish I could say the same for Hen Harriers.

Hope they will soon be as common in the Uk as they are in the States,100 is a good start, this is a good image Ivan even with those leg rings, I know they need them for there records so we must live with them, nice work.

    Cheers Keith.

Excellent image, Ivan! The feather details and colorations in the wings are just wonderful! Nice position of the wing, head, feet and fish. That eye really pops, too! Wonderful exposure control against the bright sky.
