Lovely shot of a subject still on my to do list/ Just enough head turn, and good techs - I don't think at this distance stopping down further would have got the whole tail sharp. I might be tempted to do a little eye doctor work, but otherwise bang on

    Keith:

Well exposed, and although the perch is very massive for this bird, somehow the small holes add enough interest to make it work. You could also try a loose vertical to cut out some of the mass.

It is very sharp as posted, perhaps a bit too much on my monitor, with a slight 'crunchiness" to some of the fine feather detail starting to creep it. I know, nice scientific optical term, but the straight lines in fine details start to have just a bit of zig zag effect. This is a very subjective thing, and many will be fine with it as posted.

    Cheers

I like the setting, and the perch has enough interest to make it work. Bird stands out nicely against the background, and has good detail (just bordering on crunchy, on my monitor). I personally would have liked a little more head turn.

Nice looking back pose, and excellent smooth background, Keith. The head turn is good enough, although a little more would have been better.

Big perches like this work really well when anchored along the bottom of the frame like you have here. The bird's face pops nicely against the smooth green BG. More of a head turn would have been perfect.

Thanks for your views guys, was not sure about this with the large perch but something about it appealed to me, think your comments confirmed my thoughts.

    Appreciated Keith.
