    Default Kestrel

A chance encounter with this Kestrel while photographing the owl, the bird was landing on this post regularly while it had five chicks in a nest ,I just turned the hide round and took a gamble ...canon 1d mkiv 300mm iso 640 1/1600 sec +1/3 ev Name: Kestrel.jpg

I am sooooo impressed by this image! The details (even fine details) are superb! The post may be OOF but the kestrel is well detailed! Body position is excellent and eye sharpness is superb! If anything, I'd crop some off the top....but that is really nit picking! Well done! TFS!

Nice landing shot Den, impressed you managed to turn away from the owls - that must have hurt!

Nothing much to criticise on this one from my perspective

    Dennis:

The landing pose, extension, tail flare, details, all excellent. It pays to look behind yourself once in a while when shooting!

I do agree with a sliver off the top, and the only slightly jarring part of the image to me is the diagonal piece of wood. I might try to lower its luminosity so it doesn't stand out quite so much.

    Cheers
