I have been seeing and trying to get this for several years. This perch is used by many but the Kingbird likes it for hunting. Sign marks the NWR from the beach trail at Goose Rocks in K'Port Maine. 1dm3 on 500mm w/ 1.4X handheld, AiServo, ME, 1/1000, f5.6, iso200. Bob

Nice head turn on this bird Bob. Looks like the weather was nice too. I might have tried to straighten the sign in the frame but I realise that it was probably leaning at that angle.

I like birds on signs.....adds to the story. Nice over the shoulder pose. I'm seeing a faint "halo" around the bird.....reminds me of S/H recovery. Was this image underexposed and lightened with S/H recovery? If that's the case you might want to select only the bird to brighten thus eliminating the "glow" around the bird.

Cute, Bob, I too enjoy birds on signs & I have one of a kingbird very similar to this! Around here, they seem to be fairly tolerant of people and relatively cooperative regarding getting their pictures taken. :) Personally, I would have straightened the vertical axis of the sign. On my monitor, this looks a little dark but I suspect it's just my monitor. Nice image, thanks for sharing!

amazingly sharp for hand held with that set up. I can't imagine doing that in my shaky hands. Nice composition and pose of this lovely bird. I see the halo Lana sees as well, but no idea what it could be. Thanks for posting this image.

Thanks to all and now I see the halo! I will reprocess and give Lana's way a try. Thanks, Bob

Good work Bob on getting the image. My suggestions have been covered above.
